Hurray, that extra hour in bed!

Do you struggle to remember if the clocks fall back or spring forward at this time of year?

We’ve all been caught by the clocks, getting places too early or – as annoyingly – too late for meetings, buses, planes and trains!

British summer time officially ends in autumn with the clocks “falling back” one hour this Sunday 25th October. It “springs forward” again in the spring of 2021. Perhaps we’ve cracked a yearly dilemma for you now!

With the grey, cooler weather comes the end of British Summer Time, bringing earlier sunsets and darker evenings as we head into winter.

Sound a bit gloomy? Not for early birds who enjoy the lighter mornings. And the end of summer at least heralds the coming of the spectacular colours of autumn. That said, we can’t really find any other “benefits” to lift the general gloom of this time of year.

Now observed in over 70 countries, many people still doubt the benefits of changing the clocks. What do you think? Is this an archaic custom from another era or is it actually a useful way to make the most of daylight hours?

Whatever you think, be sure to enjoy an extra hour’s lie in this Sunday – and if you’re going anywhere, don’t rush out too early!
